Well, this isn't exactly what you're looking for, since it doesn't put
pictures on the screen. But what it does put on the screen is much more
useful than pictures, in my opinion. It's called Backyard and lets you
pin stickynotes onto the background, sort of like PostIts. You can
create a note from Backyard or create one from Notes or Names, in which
case the note or name card is linked with an icon to the note. This is
great for me, since I often am working on a project where I need several
names and a checklist and maybe a list of information all organized and
easily accessable. I create PostIts on the background and then work from
Backyard, tapping to open what I need when I need it. It's amazingly
handy.

This wonderful app also enlarges the background quite a bit so you can
scroll to other collections of notes. Also, an excellent set of button
bars is provided, so all you most-used apps are a tap away. There are
more goodies too.

Backyard is by Thorsten Lange. It's one of three apps of his that I have
purchased--I++, WittyKeys, and Backyard--and I have to say that, along
with DateMan and SuperNotePad from StandAlone, they are the most useful
things on my Newton. Here's the webpage for Thorsten's software:

You know, sometimes I wonder what a plain 2100 is like? I've actually
forgotten what enhancements like these I've installed, but I take the
completely for granted. I can't imagine a Newton without these apps on
it.
