I've successfully gotten a Rendezvous connection to work, using a
PowerBook G4 (AirPort) and a 2100 (SMC 802.11 card). Both devices are
on the same subnet (10.0.1.x) under an AirPort Base Station.
Firewalling is not enabled on the PowerBook.
I just start Delivery's server, then configure the 2100's Dock to use
TCP/IP and Rendezvous (ZeroConf), and hit Connect. Dock shows a
listbox asking me to choose the server, with one entry: the Rendezvous
name of my PowerBook. I select it, and shortly the server-side says
"Connected to Newton". After a bit of a delay, the 2100 shows an
"empty" Dock dialog with no icons in it.
At this point, I can choose to install a package from the PowerBook
side. There seems to either be a delay before the transfer starts, or
it is waiting for some sort of event on the Newton side. I tried it a
couple of times, and on both attempts, the Dock appeared to be sitting
doing nothing for about 15 seconds or so. I tapped the Newton's screen
just to see if it was alive, and the package began installing almost
immediately after that. I don't know if it was my tap that got things
going, or I just didn't wait long enough. But I had a similar
experience both times.
Anyway, just wanted to share a success story. Great work, guys!
