The printer needs to support PostScript. To find out if it does, use its
built-in menu to print a test/config page, which will give you a sheet with
all of the printer's configuration options. If there's a PostScript section
on that page, or if there's some other thing there to indicate that
"PostScript: yes" then you're set.
Actually, from looking at this page on hp.com:
It looks like PostScript is only on the 2100M or 2100TN, so if you have a
plain vanilla 2100 then you're not going to be printing to this printer from
the Newton :(
