Hi Guys,

Does anyone remember this just a couple of weeks ago: Gareth Long, who
was able to port MAME to the ARM processor, was toying around the idea
of developing Newton MAME. I haven't heard from him since but he got a
lot of positive replies to the idea and I hope he is going ahead with
the project.

His only reserve was the interface, on-screen buttons for sure, but what
about some sort of contoller plugged into the Newt.

Brian Parker chimed in later that he had a side project retrofitting NES
& SNES controllers as USB input devices. He said that it can't possibly
be that hard to reorient the controls for a serial interface but he
would need some way to test and read the input signals to and from the Newt.

Lo and behold, comes in Eagan with his Newtendo project.! What better
testing ground for serial NES controller than an actual NES emulator on
the Newt. When all is said and done we'll have the ultimate retro gaming
device in my opinion!

I always get comments of the Newton being either some "oversized PDA,"
or a "mini-tablet PC" and I always impress and prove people wrong on
those points. But I also frequently get the question, "Is that some sort
of GameBoy?" I can't wait for the day I can plug in an NES controller
and blow them all away by playing not only classic Nintendo games but
also classic arcade games! This is so wicked cool.

Keep up the cool development efforts rolling!

Thanks guys,
Jonathan
