Yes, does that mean I hadn't a brain?

Oh, I know what Windows feels like. But you're saying the current
Apple is "good enough", just like Steve Ballmer says Windows XP is
"good enough"

Sad, many humans have turned away from their creative side and allowed
themselves to become ants/drones. (Mocking myself) The world is a
terrible place, these days and we all know the only way to turn this
place around is with flavored computers :P

>> People want something

Don't start THAT now. Do you really think only 5% of the world wants
something like the iMac? There are many factors which contribute to
the type of computing device purchased. There is cost, region,
electrical and spacial demands. Anyway, what I'm trying to say it,
more than 5% of the world WANTS something truly different.

>> their software and OS) is truly... not.

Hardware may be secondary in the end, but when Millions of people
purchased Bondi Blue iMacs in 1998, do you think they really thought
the OS was THAT great? No, it was the hardware which attracted those
consumers. It's time for apple to break out of its shell of
white/silver. It's boring and uninspiring. It's nice and you may like
it, but think of the big picture - when were you happier about Apple?
1998 or 2004? (And don't start with processor speeds, etc. I'm talking
about opinions about the "here-and-now" of each year.

>> Apple, hear my plea! Bring that "WOW" factor back into your
>> computers

> The wow factor is nice, but it's important to "stick to the knitting"

It's nice to have good underlying architecture and a stable OS (which,
as I said before, Panther isn't), but obvious difference sells (as long
as you market compatibility as well).

>> Thin and light no longer mean "different". Show
>> us the light, Apple - like you did in 1984, 1998 and 2001.
> You weren't born in 1984. heh. Again let me say I think as does $J that
> most of the real innovation to come in personal computing is going to
> be in the software.
Hardware is secondary in the end, but people don't buy OSes, they buy
computers. And people who have an understanding of the industry and
the advantages of a Mac will buy a Mac. Most consumers don't have an
understanding, so they need some serious difference. If you put a Sony
laptop and a PowerBook next to each other, and asked a consumer which
one is more inspiring or "different" there is only a 40-50% chance it'd
be the Apple. Panther is mediocre, Mac QualityControl is ....
non-existent? or failing. Where are we headed? If Apple keeps up this
"professional" looking computer and OS lineup, people won't see the
difference (in the hardware, because it takes hardware to sell the OS)
and will buy the cheaper Dell.

There were always cheaper computers than the iMac, but its wonderful
design captured people's creative minds. It inspired consumers.
Nothing Apple is currently making is truly inspiring. It's nice, but
just not what I would expect.
