Well it looks like the biggest challenge to using a Newton 2100 in the PC
laptop environment has now arrived. I have to exchange my current laptop
with a spanking new laptop within the next 3 days. I have just noticed
that there is no serial port.
My occasional use of Bluetooth-based data exchange between the Newton 2100
and my laptop (running Windows XP) will now have to be the primary
approach.
Are there any potential showstoppers with package upload/download ... etc
?
It looks like a busy few days moving to this new way of working.
please note that Wireless Ethernet is a non-starter unless there is a way
of supporting a IEEE 802.1x (EAP) environment.
If I have missed an obvious approach, please let me know.
Carrying a serial cable over the last 7 years to facilitate communications
between the Newton 2100 and the laptop PC is hard act to beat in a truly
mobile context (hotel rooms, secure military sites ...).
