Bubba Gump has some good suggetions, but I would like to add that I have
travelled between the US and Germany about 8 times in the last 4 years,
and have never had any problems with laptops, ipods, etc. The most
inconvienent thing is that they make you remove your laptop from the bag
and x-ary it separately. That may apply to your emate. Last time I left
the US, I had a ton of electronics with me, even 2 FW hard drives, and not
so much as a raised eyebrow from security.

Not sure if they act differently with people holding non-US passports,
though.

I actually find security in Germany more strict, but still pretty easy (if
you ignore the insane lines). They ask me about all electronic and battery
powered items I am carrying. In the US they never asked.

OK, since this is my first post to the list, a quick intro. About 2 months
ago, I was cleaning out the house to get ready for my move to Germany
when I found my Newton 2100, unused for the last 3 years or so. The timing
was ironic, since my wife was struggling to figure out how to use the
second-hand Palm Pilot she acquired. I was filled with fond memories, and
ended up packing up my newton in the original box with all the manuals, &
accessories and put it in the pile to ship to Germany, as opposed to the
Garage Sale/Ebay/Goodwill pile.

In the mean time, I joined the list and have been drooling over the
thought of adding WLAN to my Newt. But alas, my she is on a ship, and
won't hit land for a couple more weeks (and probably won't be in my hands
until December). So, until then, I'll keep reading in amazement about
everything people are still doing with their Newtons. I can't wait till I
get mine back!
