It is where the sled is changed so that the Newt thinks it is a regular
rechargeable battery pack (adding thremoister and contacts at the
bottom). Of course the downside to this is you can't put alkalines in
it and not forget they are in there when you plug it in. Or you will
have a mess and possibly dead Newt on your hands.
