My personal observations are that Andriano is almost there. How
difficult is it to convert the Newton's serial (interconnect) to USB by
applying the same concepts as his NewtLight and NewtNav?
Hi,
As the MessagePad already respects some of the USB specs,
making a Newton usb-ready could be done for powering and docking
purposes,
but for having in your MessagePad a usb-host (i.e. being capable of
using a usb keyboard or usb printer)
it will need to realize drivers built DEEP in the NewtonOS plus the
drivers for the specific usb slave .
So my question is:
when Einstein will have usb host capabilities installable on a
"stranger" pda,
could then those resources be ported back to the Newton side if/when
the right hardware will be made?
