Well put, David. Personally I have no problem with cellphones
assimilating the PDA, if one talks about PDA under the PIM aspect. I
want as much information "always with me" as possible, therefore
merging phone and PIM into something ultraportable and give it
internet access is just logical. With the SE P800 (and as I hear it
is much more bearable, maybe the P910i soon) I have a whale of a
phone, but still I so not like to enter any substantial amount of
information into it. The screen is too small to work on with
pleasure, but it is just big enough for information display.

When I look at Philips and their electronic paper I see a very
interesting future. They lately had a nice demo device (lost the
link, sorry) that allowed to pull the (rather big) screen out of a
relatively small shell, since the screen could roll up inside. This
could make an excellent merged product one day: Equip the shell with
basic phone functions (number pad and a small OLED) & make the
e-paper screen rigid enough for pen-input. Then one has an easily
managable phone & can pull out the big e-paper screen to work on
whenever needed.
