Hi Dan
I recently purchased Photoshow from Landware and would highly recommend it.
Previous to this I was having a great deal of difficulty in getting
photos to appear on the newt in any sensible fashion.
I spent a huge amount of time trying to get Newton Press to accept them
without success.
It does only deal with PCT or Bitmap files but also comes with a package
called X-port which seems to 'translate' and decompress these files.
The photos are of a good enough quality to be fun and X-port gives you
the option of storing the picture in Notes, on the Clipboard or on
Photoshow itself.
One thing I have found if that for some reason I get better results
using a very old copy of Ulead PhotoExpress 2 on my PC to reduce the
size (to 320 pixels wide) and to greyscale than I do with an up to date
version of Photoshop? (I don't really know what I'm doing though).
For me the $10 was well worth it just to get some nice pictures of the
family on the Newt.
Even good old Grampa Fry whose been gone a long time but for whom I have
very fond memories is in there keeping me company.
Andy
