I know this won't specifically help those outside the US, but @ Sam's Club
and probably Costco they have the Energizer AA 2100 rechargeable in an 8
pack for $19. I've purchased 32 of them for my Newton's and all of the toys
that my VERY thoughtful sister-in-law gets for the kids that make the most
annoying loud noises. I've used a few of the "Exotic" brand rechargeable and
the Energizers have performed much better at life of service. I've lost all
but 4 of my exotic batteries and I have all 32 of my Energizers...

In Christchurch there is firm here that recells old laptop battery packs. I
tried them out with recelling an MP2100 battery but after they finished it
didn't fit back into the silo very well. Somehow it ended up being a bit
too big.
Rather than send it all the way to Europe for Frank or Marco to do it, I
have ended up settling for rechargeables in a battery tray and recharging
them separately in another off the shelf charger from an electronics shop.

Anyone out there selling recelled 2100 battery packs? Mine is showing its
age and I'd like to get one with some 2300 mah batteries but am too lazy to
