Thanks Woody,
you may have found the weakness. When checking the status, I find that
"Built-in Ethernet" is checked but has a note beside it indicating "The
cable for Built-In Ethernet is not plugged in."
This is false. I have a cable plugged in directly to the Newton. But
perhaps the iBook requires a signal on the ethernet cable all the time.
Is a router than necessary? Does it provide some sort of signal saying
"Hey guys, don't hang up. Somebody is here."
