Software is installed by just transferring pkgs;

If they arrive by serial port transfer using Newton Connection Utilities (NCU)
then they end up in the UNFILED ITEMS folder of the EXTRAS and there is no need
to "PUT AWAY". This is the most likely way if you have very few pkgs installed
already. If you don't have any packages then you need a loaner card from
somebody to bootstrap your unit.

If they are transferred by email then they end up in the INBOX and then "PUT
AWAY" is selected from one of the routing options. YOu can also install by
downloading from a compatible website using one of the Newtscape or Nethopper.

DATA is a different kettle of fish.

For data, DATES, NAMES information can be transferred to the PC via NCU; but
won't be readable on the Desktop natively. NCU can synchronise with a Lotus
Organizer 2.1 file on the PC and this can be imported into Outlook. LO2.1 is
available as a free download from UNNA. Blunt can be used to transfer NAMES data
via bluetooth vCards and then imported into a PIM from the Bluetooth inbox.

Notes text can be transferred via Bluetooth or over a serial connection using
Notes2Notes and Sloup 2.1. N2N will insert the Notes entries as Notes entries
in Outlook 2000.

Hmm. that would explain it.. but how the hell do you get software on
these cards? All via serial cable?
