Hi all,
I purchased my MP130 a good few years ago, when they first came out in the UK, and my 2100 on eBay last year.
I've just got the MP130 out of the box it's been living in since we moved and have an slight issue with it:
I installed new batteries, but not a new backup battery, and switched it on. Everything was working fine, even though it was complaining about the backup battery. I held the power switch down and the backlight came on. Excellent, I thought. However, after using the backlight a few times, swicthing it on and off with the power switch, it now refuses to come on. The batteries are basically at full charge, the light just won't come on now. Any ideas what has caused this, and how I can fix it?
With the 2100, things are a bit more complicated. The machine has always worked when plugged into a power supply (not the original as I can't get a US to UK adapter, but one that outputs similar, slightly lower figures). The original battery pack was dead and I had it refurbished by Frank (is that right?) at PDA-soft.de. However, although the pack passed the PDA-soft testing, when I put it into the 2100 and plug in the power, the newton says that the pack cannot take a charge and should be replaced. How can I check if (a) the pack's OK, and (b) the Newton is sending charge into the pack correctly?
Finally, I've noticed that the 2100's digitizer is never aligned correctly. After running the Align Pen utility, writing appears 2-3mm below where the pen is. Any way to correct this?
Sorry to throw these questions at you but you guys seem to have all the Newton knowledge wrapped up!
Thanks
Stuart
