Someone else here on the list mentioned Nebo a few months ago. As is the case with most such recommendations, I was curious and decided to give it a try.

The result was impressive. On my iPad Pro 9.7" using the Apple Pencil, the experience very much like that from our little green-lit friend. The handwriting was very smooth, probably the closest to an actual pen-on-paper experience I've seen (after the Newton). The gestures for joining, separating and erasing letters and words are understandably different than the Newton's, which takes some getting used to...but that's not a big problem, more an inconvenience.

The one thing that is annoying is the lack of integration with other iPad apps. When working with some sort of data (for example--a PDF, photo or text) that you'd like to access with an app, the easiest way is often to tap on the box with the top arrow and select it from the choices. Nebo is at present not one of those.

When and if that happens Nebo will be a winner. Now, it's just a nice app with great HWR.

Thanks,
Forrest

To accomplish this feat, we needed to interpret the meaning of the digital ink in real time, not just display the ink strokes. We created the Interactive Ink <http://myscript.com/interactive-ink/?utm_source=corporate%20site&utm_campaign=Interactive%20Ink&utm_medium=Home%20banner> technology that powers Nebo and provide the development tools for others to build advanced digital handwriting applications. We host the world’s only conference for digital writing. It is in Silicon valley in late Oct. You should plan to attend. www.futurewrite.com <http://www.futurewrite.com/>
