I was a Newton owner from the first summer - I bought an OMP in Boston
during a fortuitous business trip. I worked my way thru a couple of MP120's,
an MP130, a MP2000 and then the upgrade. I lived thru all of the growing
pains - slow modems, poor (or no) internet support, notepad limitations. Now
with the Palm products, I see the same slow progression to usefulness and
respectability.

The Newton is a great computer but without support from any major
manufacturer or developer, it is being set adrift. While it is still the
best handheld solution, it is too large to really be a pocket computer. The
technologies that it supports, such as PCMCIA cards are being passed, just
as the Newton is.

Enjoy your Newton and enjoy its functionality, but each day, while the loyal
hobbyists try to keep the Newton current, Palm gains more functionality
every day.
