A related question to all this discussion of Steve Jobs:

Why do Newton users hate Steve Jobs so much?

Is it solely because he cancelled the Newton?

Not that this is a terrible reason or anything. But this whole
conversation has seemed a bit strange to me, for example, when was the
last time that Jobs made any comment public or otherwise that we know
about regarding the Newton? The last one I know about was when he
demonstrated Ink Well in 10.2 demos before its release, that was now
something like two years ago, and that was the first one I had heard of
in a really long time.

So while I guess disliking Jobs for canceling a product we all love is
valid enough for anyone, all the other stuff being talked about seems
... well, out of place and time, I mean, "Why does Jobs seem angry?"
and the discussion surrounding that statement makes it sound current,
when to the best of my knowledge it has been years since any of the
evidence cited was well ... current or relevant.

This isn't to declare the impressions shared here to be right or wrong,
more so to just say that the conversation seems ... well strange at
best and perhaps 3-4 years out of place at worst.

So with all that said - are we really so bitter that after numerous
discussions and justifications and arguments about the cancelation of
the Newton - was it seven years ago just within the last month? - are
we really so bitter that we are still trying to find reasons to bash
the guy who did it or is there anything more ... useful to this topic?

Thoughts?

David
