[NTLK] To think what could have been....

Chistopher,

> just wondering how many other ppl get similar comments.

All the time.

Practically every time I used a Newt in the sight of another person for the
last 8 years it has precipitated the same flurry of comments;

"You're writing onto that screen, but it's not actually recognizing it, is
it?"

"Can you send me your meeting notes by email later?"

"What, fax and email from this machine? - Where can I get one..."

"That's better, I can see so much more on your screen."

"...So it replaces a tape recorder, note book, agenda, sketch pad, runs all
day on a charge and Apple stopped making it - what's the matter with them?"

...and so on.

When I saw the Newton in 1994 I had the same feeling as that which I
experienced 10 years before at the launch of the Mac - this is it, this is
the way computing should be done!

Sadly, since the Newton's demise, the computer industry has entered a period
of tedious stagnation. Apple and Microsoft are on a convergent path into a
blind alley.

But my Newts are still here, serving me every day like nothing else can.
And there is nothing quite like the pleasure of a great tool.

Joel.
