Oddly enough, I kid you not, there is an 8-pin serial port built right
into my iMac. I just hunted around on the Internet, and as of now,
I've not come across anything about it ever having such a feature
originally. I'm starting to wonder what model of iMac I must have? I
can take a picture and send it to anyone thats interested. It is the
very first, original bondi iMac that Apple sold.
The serial cable plugged right in, no muss, no fuss, just like it used
to when I had an older Apple printer hooked up to it back in the late
90s when I bought it brand new.
Thats why I'm so puzzled about this...makes no sense and its clearly
not an add-on or aftermarket item, it was plainly built right in at the
time of assembly and original to the computer.
Guess I'm just out of luck.
