[NTLK] API for JPEG plug-in?

I am getting closer to knowing enough to take on the project of a jpeg viewer =E0-la Photoshow. But I lack one crucial piece of knowledge: how to interact with Newtscape's JPEG plug-in. Is this documented somewhere? Daniel Padilla must have figured this out somehow in order to tweak Nethopper to use it. Right?
