[NTLK] XP Question--Ignore if you must

I know this is a Newton list. However, my problem affects my ability to use
my Newton, but it really is a XP question. Since this list is the best
source of help period, I was hoping for some. Ignore it if you must.
 
My Inspiron 7500 laptop, after a hard crash (ya gotta love them 13 yr olds
who want to chat with friends), now has CPU usage of 100%. No matter what I
do, I can not get CPU usage to return to normal. Any suggestions?
 
I apologize to the list for an off topic question, but I have looked and
tried everything. I'm desperate.
